Painting Loops Live

Fernin Blank creates live music based on the sounds of painting.

With no regard to convention, using a paint brush and a mic to set the loop and building drum, vocal, bass, guitar, trumpet and clarinet layers to create new music never heard before.

This is the first recording and music to be created by recording and looping the sound of painting. The rhythmic sound of painting becomes the core layer for improvisational music.

Here is the final painting, named Cecil after our lost friend in Africa.

Below is a segment of Fernin Blank's Debut live performance in Brooklyn Aug 2015. The painting on the left, Fellow was my first painting to find a new home, went to a friend at the end of the night.

This is how the one on the right turned out in the end.
